Many of them still go for link exchanges without knowing that the present trend is for one way inbound links instead of those that were exchanged. The truth is that the search engines are ready to reward any site that has more relevant and related one way backlinks than others in the niche with high page rankings. Note that getting these one way backlinks usually aren’t as easy to get as the reciprocal or exchanged links but the former carries more values.

But you have to ensure that those links that are pointing back to the various pages of your website are from related topics or ay least from some sites or blogs that are operating in then same niche as yours.

If you are going for backlinks from sites that aren’t related to yours, you may simply be wasting your precious time because Google and other search engines aren’t given such links any page ranking considerations presently. It is even better to get backlinks from sites that are offering complimentary services or products as yours because you wouldn’t only be rewarded with higher page rankings from the search engines, you will be getting targeted and direct traffic from such links too. This traffic is coming from potential clients or customers that can perform one revenue generating action or the other on your site.

You may actually devise ways of getting relevant one way backlinks to your site but note that if you refuse to back it up with quality content in your webpages, you may likely loose all the traffic as well as the backlinks. This is because some of the sites that linked back to your site may have done that for the type of content they read or expected from your site and wanted their web visitors to also gain from it. But if they discover that your content aren’t rich, they may simply discontinue the link to your site but even if that doesn’t happen, the visitors that get there without getting satisfactory content may likely not come back at a later date.

Ensure that the sites that are linking back to yours are already indexed by the search engines and try to avoid anything type of backlinks from the pharmaceuticals and adult websites.
